| For the Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki (OAV) series, the importance of non-domesticated, accurately translated subtitles comes to light. So many small things that characters say can mean a lot. For this purpose, it was decided that a section should be created to deal with the translation errors that appear in Pioneer's R1 release of Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki. While the newer re-release did fix some of the most grievous errors, they left a lot of poorly translated and domesticated subtitles in. | |
| This will not contain a complete transcript of everything said since no one has the time to undertake such a project. Plus, Geneon and AIC would most likely object strongly. But this will contain is a retranslation of what are felt to be important passages that are wrong in the Pioneer subtitles. This will only apply to the subtitled version (the dub version is even more incorrect than the subtitles are). We are only interested in what the Japanese actually said verses what ended up in the official subtitles. | |
| Note: As we are mere amateurs with varying skills at Japanese, we are having to listen to the spoken Japanese and translate from that (we don't have access to the original Japanese scripts). So we are attempting to provide translations that are as accurate as possible. However, we would LOVE for native Japanese speakers to help us in this project. This would also extend to those who are very fluent in Japanese. Maybe we misheard something. Maybe the translation could be tightened further? Regardless, we'd love to hear from you! | |
