I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I know I did. Of course holidays never last as long as one might like but that's OK.
Anyway thanks to Warren for alerting me to the fact that yet another syndicate has changed ALL of their URL's! Ugh!
So I'm working to get all of those fixed. Other site changes are coming very soon! I'm forking out some serious $$$ to get some help and to give the site a much needed make-over.
So now I'll be a tad fancy, but still nothing major. So once the new site is delivered to me, I'll upload it and start begging for money! *grin*

I took a few comp days off to recover from the massive amounts of work that I've had to do of late. Amazing how a major company in order to save a few dollars says,
"Hey! The job that used to take five people to do (and keep those five people pretty busy) can now be done by two. Yeah, that's the ticket. "Work you lazy worthless bastards!" It could be worse.
There is a senior manager who is firing high-paid contractors and replacing them with lower-paid contractors. At least my manager and senior manager haven't started doing that!
Thanks for all of your continued support of economy and AstroNerdBoy's Comic Strips!!

While I've been busy, I have had time to update the site. Unfortunately my mind has been otherwise occupied and so no updates. But I started work last night and will
continue to do so today. For those who don't know, Liberty Meadows will no longer be a syndicated comic strip. Instead, Frank Cho is taking the strip to comic book form. Read all about it here.

September 11, 2001 is a day which will never be forgotten as long as I live and have all my faculties. And so we find ourselves at war with terrorist. Make no mistake, this won't be the "video game" war that the Persian Gulf War became.
This will be an ugly thing much like in World War II when we had to go in and literally root out the Japanese. We will have to go in and root out these terrorist in their holes. And we can't be all nice about it either. We are going to have to get our hands dirty here otherwise the war will be lost.
But we can do this! We must do this for all the victims of the attacks Tuesday. To quote President Bush, "I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you. And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!" God bless America!
Now to the comic strip world -- don't forget my interview with Ted Dawson the creator of Spooner. Also, The Onion has an excellent interview with Berke Breathed (Bloom County/Outland).
I've added so many new web comic strip links. Many only have text links due to 1) time constraints and 2) the submitters failure to follow submission instructions. But despite this, check them out all the same. I will continue to add stuff tonight and tomorrow so check back.

This is my final Saturday working my second job. I can tell you that it will be so nice to actually have a day (or two) off! Whew! Maybe I'll find more time to keep this updated. : ) Speaking of updates, come back later this evening (or tonight) for my latest interview (click here for the interview).
This time, Ted Dawson ("Spooner") answers the questions. I think you'll enjoy it.And while we are talking about Ted, let me be one of the first to congratulate him on his move from Tribune Media Services to United Features Syndicate!
A bit of "older" news. Last week Cinescape Online reported that the "Baby Blues" cartoon has had the plug pulled. The comic strips continues so all you "Baby Blues" fans can continue to enjoy.

I'm so far behind I may never see the light of day. But I'm trying I swear. I've just caught up through the end of April so that's better than nothing. |

A few more changes courtesy of Naomi Dunbar. Nothing new but some dead links are gone and a couple of others are updated. On the advice on Edward Owens, I may be converting to a slighting more "advanced" site.
Since there are so many comic strips (and each having an HTML file), I may create a database and have the pages go from HTML to ASP. But that means learning some new stuff so it won't be happening in the near future.
But this method of pages should enable to me to get new comic strips added almost immediately (if I understand how everything works). I'll keep you posted. Also I have a new interview with a syndicated cartoonist coming VERY SOON! Just some follow-up questions to ask (and have answered).

Why can't the syndicates just leave their URL's alone? But no, we have to change everything around for whatever reasons and that puts sites like mine in a disadvantage. So now I have all of the Creator's Syndicate pages to fix. Thanks to Ruel Smith for the head's up!
With as busy as I get, I just don't get to read the comic strips like I used to. : ( Also thanks to Weston Royer for pointing out some dead web strip links.FrontPage 2002 (not XP) is working OK with the coolness outweighing the hideousness so far. *sigh*
Well I guess I'd better get working.

FrontPage XP needs some work and like most MS products, it is a serious memory hog. XP has some cool features but waiting 5 seconds to create a hyperlink is outrageous. Even though you may be linking to an external hyperlink, each time you create a new hyperlink,
it has to "load" all possible files on your HD because you might want to link to one of them. Having a 40GB HD for XP to scan slows the process. Well, I'll keep using and trying to figure out better ways of using it.

Well, here's a quick update to tryout FrontPage XP. The verdict is still out but I'll let you know how it turns out. In the meantime, I want to apologize to all the cartoonist I've neglected over the past two months.
Lord willing, I'll be able to get back on the horse and kick some bottom!

More updates inside. Thanks to everyone who's written telling me about changes, bad URL's, etc. : ) Keep letting me know and as soon as I have time, I'll get those changes in. |

Where have I been? That's the theme of recent e-mail in my in-box. Answer: WORKING! I did take a week off but I was sick of computers and needed to get some things done around the house.
So I'm now two months behind on getting the site really updated. Tom, the editor of Hogan's Alley (an excellent magazine for the comic arts) wanted me to tell all of you that the new issue will be out shortly! YEAH BABY!

Egad! I am WAY to busy! I did 19 hours last Saturday not to mention all the hours for my Monday-Friday job. Yeah, poor me! *grin* At least I'm getting paid, right?
Anyway Jim Alexander ("ALGERNON'S DILEMMA") asked me to let you guys know about the "Web Comic Awareness"
which is coming up on May 5th. This is to help promote web comic strips. So do check it out!

Did anyone watch the Horatio Hornblower on A&E? Pretty cool!
Of course the original four Hornblower movies were awesome.
Anyway the links take you to the place where you can buy the DVD's! *grin* I'm just that kind of guy.

Well here it is the end of March. Where did hibernation season go? *grin* I ask this because I think I could sleep a week! Yes, I'm very tired thanks for asking! *grin* Anywho, there are a few new strips up in the Web section. I'd like to do more but it's EOM time at my Saturday job which doesn't leave much goofing off time. Boo-hoo, I actually have to earn my check this week! |
 |

No real update today. Unfortunately I've been WAY to busy to do much of anything. Ugh! If I can get caught up on some sleep tonight combined with a light day tomorrow, who knows, I might be able to do something then. In the meantime, I appreciate all of your support! |

The guestbookhas been fixed! Thanks to Debbie for the information! I'll get 5 new web strips added tomorrow. Plus if I have time (I'll be doing this at my 13-hour-day Saturday job) I'll try to scope more URL's to correct.
Thanks to all who've let me know these things! I really do appreciate it. : )

Mark Tonrahas graciously granted me several follow up questions for the interview I did! Thanks a ton Mark! If you've already read the previous interview, look for the markers to denote the added stuff. Be sure to look for several new web comic strips inside! |

We got reviewed by the Swedish (IDG) computer magazine PC för Alla (do a search for "astronerdboy" on the page). The review is in Swedish but thanks to Kathy Wilson and Tryggve for the translation.
"Hardly the best looking comics around, but excellent for you who want to surf on among comic strips on the net. Here, a wide variety of links is offered both to professional cartoonists and and semipro/amateur web comics.
How many comics it is, I do not even have the strength to count, but there are hundreds. Often (not always), there is also a short description and link to the official sites. Strong on resources, but pretty ugly. Grade 7 (of 10).
"Not bad for my "ugly" site's first official review. *lol*Also, thanks to Lars Washburn for giving me a couple of updated URL's.

My quote for today is "I hate my life!" *grin* Work pretty much sucked today but now I'm home with a full belly so I guess I can make a few updates, eh? Not exactly sure where I'll be working so just poke around. |

There are TONS of new syndicated comic strips going up today! I should have links to all of them today with "Learn More" pages coming soon. Thanks to Michael Shonk for the list! |

I'm busy adding new web strips. Spare Change comes in 1st for funniest domain name (IMO) with http://www.poorlydrawncomics.com. *lol*
As Clint Eastwood would say, "A man's got to know his limitations." *grin* So give Warren some hits!

I now have the interview with Joe Martin("Mr. Boffo", "Willy 'n Ethel", & "Cats With Hands") posted.
Do check it out! Thanks to the various people who've pointed out the dead links. Yeah, I know there are a ton and I'm trying to get them either updated or eliminated. Also, I'm adding "Learn More" pages for comic strips previously not covered. This is a slow process (and the regulars will know how ...) |

Thanks to Ted Dawson ("Spooner") for the new Spooner graphic. Excellent! |

My desktop is back up and running which is a good thing. My job requires a lot of work from home so I had to work hard at getting it back up. I had a virus hidden in network.vbs file.
It was a VBS/netlog.worm.g virus. Ugh! Oh well. This is only a brief update as I have to get to bed and get some sleep. Got a busy day tomorrow!

I survived my move! Thanks to all who asked. :) Now I've got to unpack as time allows. Never an easy task! *grin*
In other news, my desktop is still dead. I might be able to find some time to work on it tomorrow. In the meantime the old laptop is doing OK so here's another update.
